Calculating Sales On a Variation Listing

You’ll often see the term "variation listing" being used. This is where a single product listing has multiple options (variation), ie. Different colours, different sizes etc. Sometimes software like Seller Amp can give misrepresented sales per month for variation listings. To work out the approximate popularity of a variation on a listing is very simple, please follow these steps…

  1. Make sure you are on the variation listing that you want to check the popularity of.

  2. Click on "ratings" - Next to the stars under the listing title.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the the ratings page and click "view all reviews".

  4. Make a note of the total product reviews on the left hand side of the page.

  5. Use the format option to show only reviews for the specific variation your are checking the popularity of.

  6. You'll then be able to see how mant of the total product reviews are reviews for this specific variation of the listing.

  7. You can calculate this into a percentage with the following formula:

Percentage=[FormattedVariationReviews/TotalProductReviews]x100Percentage = [Formatted Variation Reviews / Total ProductReviews] x 100

This will then tell you the percentage of reviews that are for that specific variation listing. Usually, on Seller Amp, sales per month are the total sales for the listing (all of the variation sales added together). To work out the sales for your specific variation, use the percentage you've just calculated - this will give you the most accurate figure for the variation listing's sales per month. For example; if the product sells 450 times per month and the review percentage for the specific variation is 25% then we can assume that the approximate number of sales per month for the variation is 112.
