EC Declaration of Conformity

What is EC Declaration of Conformity?

An EU declaration of conformity (DoC) is a mandatory document that you, as a manufacturer or your authorised representative, need to sign to declare that your products comply with the EU requirements. By signing the DoC you take full responsibility for your product's compliance with the applicable EU law.

This is to ensure that all products are adhering to safety compliance regulations as well as counterfeit regulations.

You will be notified via email by Amazon if you have had a compliance request - it will look like this...

You will be required to provide the following information:

How Do You Obtain This Information?

There's absolutely no doubt that at first this can seem very very overwhelming as you will not know any of the information that Amazon has requested.

You will need to reach out to either the brand directly of the supplier which you have purchased from and request a copy of the "EC/EU Declaration of Conformity" for the product. If they are insure on what you asking for or do not have a copy of this, you can send them the above list and request the answers to these questions.

Usually, when Amazon ask for this information, they will also request genuine product images or product packaging. As long as you are in possession of the products, you can simply take photos of the products themselves and any packaging they are in. This will prove to Amazon you are in possession of genuine products.

Once you have obtained this information, you would upload the EC Declaration of Conformity document and images of the products and packaging. This is shown in the below screenshot...

What If You Are Unable To Obtain This Information?

Unfortunately, when requesting this information from the brand or supplier, they may not always be able to provide you with it. This leaves you with a couple of options.

  1. On the compliance request, you will see a date by which this information is required by. If the date is in the past and your products are still in the “Available” status and are still available for sale, then you can simply ignore this email and sell out of the remaining stock.

  2. If the date is in the future, the same principle applies that you would want to try and sell your remianing stock before this date.

  3. If your listing has been removed due to this issue and you are unable to acquire the above information then we would recommend that you appeal your case directly with Amazon.

When appealing the case, you would want to select the following appeal reason: “This requirement does not apply to my product”. In the additional comments section, leave this blank and then click on submit. It can take 24-72 hours for Amazon to review your appeal. If accepted you will be able to continuing selling the products.

If it has been rejected and you are unable to obtain the information that we covered at the start, then the last resort is to create a removal order and have the stock sent back to you. As long as the products are within their return period, you will be able to return them to the retailer/supplier you purchased from for a full refund.
